FINANCIAL
ACCOUNTING CYCLE

Course Objectives:
The primary objective of this course is to provide a study of the
essential topics in the financial accounting cycle for accounting majors and
those who need other upper-level accounting courses.

Materials: Ivy provides a number of student learning
aids. The CD includes a video for each
chapter, chapter pretests, practice exercises and problems. The exercises provide additional practice in
preparation for chapter quizzes.

Internet
Access: Reliable Internet access is a requirement
for this course. High-speed Internet
access is recommended, but not required.
Students must obtain and use an e-mail account on a regular basis. Chapter final exams must be taken on-line.

Blackboard:
Students must use the Blackboard system.
Class announcements, assignments, changes to the course schedule, and
grades will be posted on Blackboard.
Blackboard should be checked prior to each class meeting for
updates. Access to and instructions on
how to use Blackboard are found at www.learn.eku.edu
EKU
email is the default email
account for communication via Blackboard, however you may change the default
account to any email account (Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.). Please change the email account in
Blackboard to that which you use most often. To change the email account within Blackboard,
go to “Tools’”, “Personal Information,” “Edit Personal Information”, then enter
your preferred email account address.

Calculators:
Each student must have a simple-function, nonprogrammable calculator for
use during class and for the final exam.
Programmable calculators may NOT be used during exams.
On-line
Chapter Quizzes On-line
quizzes must be completed for Chapters 1-4 and 6. Chapter quizzes will be administered via
Blackboard and will be available during a 48-hour window following completion
of each chapter. Chapter
quizzes consist of 10-15 T-F and/or Multiple-Choice questions from each
chapter and at least one journal entry problem.
Windows for each quiz are shown on the Course Schedule. NOTE:
Chapter quizzes may be taken only once – there are no make-ups.
Comprehensive Final Exam A
comprehensive final exam consisting of multiple-choice, short-answer questions
and journal entry problems will be administered in class. The final exam counts as 50% of the course
grade.
